African American Hall of Fame in the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel

Join us for a panel discussion with three representatives from the Democratic Republic of Congo's progressive movement:

  • Mr. Petna Ndaliko is a filmmaker and Youth Rights Defender (Goma),
  • Ms. Furaha Mussanzi is a Women's Rights Defender,  (DRC) and
  • Mr. Samuel  Yagaase is an Environment and Forest Defender (Kisangani).

The panel will be preceded by African food and an exhibit of photographs taken by Congolese Female Internally Displaced Persons from the North Kivu region.

Congo's IDP situation remains the second-most deadly and the longest-standing refugee situation on the continent if not the planet.   Our goal with this event is to continue to educate Men of Morehouse on the Human Rights situation in the DRC, facilitate their making connections on how their individual struggle parallels ours here in the U.S., and how we can develop policy, and social entrepreneurial efforts that can make life, democratic governance, and economic development in Africa a sustainable reality. Most importantly, we want Morehouse to come to know and support Congo’s movements for peace, stability and prosperity. In helping them, we recognize the best in the human spirit of Ubuntu or Basandja.
