On Thursday, March 30 at 6 p.m. at the King International Chapel, hear from Phi Beta Kappa visiting scholar Dr. Gabrielle Foreman about the untold history of early African American organizing and the "Colored Conventions" that took place from 1830 through the beginning of the new century, where free, fugitive and freed Black Americans/African Americans gathered to demand Black freedom and advocate for educational equity, labor justice, voting, jury and political rights, and freedom from state-sanctioned violence.

Dr. Foreman is the Paterno Family professor of American Literature and professor of African Studies and History at the Pennsylvania State University.
